Frequently Asked Questions

What does a Nutritionist do?

Although anyone can call themselves a Nutritionist, the Association for Nutrition (AfN) is the only independent regulator of nutritionists in the UK. To become registered with the AfN they require a minimum of degree level education that meets their standards for evidence based nutrition. You can search the register for Registered Nutritionists to find out more here.

Can you get into remission from type 2 diabetes?

Although we once believed that type 2 diabetes was a progressive illness we now know that remission is possible with the right lifestyle interventions. If you have received a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes or prediabetes it can all seem very overwhelming. That’s why we are here to guide you through the process, making sure you have all the support you need.

Do you help with weight loss?

Often when we are trying to lose weight what we are actually looking to achieve is fat loss. So the short answer is, yes. As we specialise in metabolism and hormone balance often fat loss occurs as a result of the changes you’ll make. Our recommendations are primarily based on scientifically-backed evidence focused on your long-term health.

Do I need to exercise excessively?

Absolutely not. In fact, we hate the word exercise! Although increasing the amount you move throughout the day is one of the most powerful tools for longevity we can do too much. Often the most effective way of changing our health outcomes is through tweaking our nutrition, although pairing what we eat with when we move is where the magic happens!

Is BMI or weight a good indicator of health?

No, weight does not equal health. The most dangerous forms of fat are actually found around our organs and unfortunately you can’t see this from outside the body. Type 2 diabetes is regularly diagnosed in thin people, or those with a low BMI, which is why choosing the right tests is a far more accurate method of identifying disease risk rather than basing judgements on physical appearance.

What sort of changes would I be expected to take?

We take a holistic approach to health based on your specific goals so this could be anything from tweaking your sleep, nutrition, mindset or the amount you move (if you are able to). Our aim is to make the process as easy as possible based on your biochemistry. Nutrition habits can be the hardest element to change as food plays a huge role in the way we socialise, celebrate, treat and reward. This is why we share simple hacks that can be easily integrated into your daily routine to allow you to carry on enjoying the food you love.
